- Tax revenues. In 2011, Walmart collected more than $186.5 million in sales tax on behalf of New England states. Walmart paid more than $84.2 million in state and local taxes in New England in 2010.
- Benefits for New England businesses. In 2011, Walmart spent more than $5,949,645,115 for merchandise and services with 1,520 New England-based suppliers. As a result of Walmart’s relationship with these suppliers, Walmart supports 82,242 supplier jobs in New England states.
- Job opportunities. As of January, 2011, Walmart employs 31,332 New England residents, providing the employees with a competitive wage, affordable benefits, and a chance to build a career.
- Savings. Research conducted by the Global Insight Study concludes that on average Walmart saves American families $3,100 each year, regardless of where they choose to shop.
